Dustin Hoffman

Born Dustin Lee Hoffman in August 8, 1937 at Los Angeles, California.

Dustin Hoffman graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1954. Went to Santa Monica City College where he dropped out after a year due to bad grades. But before he did, he took an acting course because he was told that “nobody flunks acting.” Also received some training at Los Angeles Conservatory of Music. Decided to go into acting because he did not want to work or go into the service. Trained at The Pasadena Playhouse for two years.

He first drew critical praise for the 1966 Off-Broadway play Eh? for which he won a Theatre World Award and a Drama Desk Award. This was soon followed by his breakthrough movie role as Benjamin Braddock in The Graduate (1967). Since then Hoffman’s career has largely been focused in cinema with only sporadic returns to television and the stage. Some of his most noted films are Midnight Cowboy, Little Big Man, Straw Dogs. Papillon, Lenny, All the President’s Men, Marathon Man, Kramer vs. Kramer, Tootsie, Rain Man, Wag the Dog, Meet The Fockers, and Last Chance Harvey.

He is famous for taking a wide range of difficult roles, such as a crippled street hustler in Midnight Cowboy (1969); an actor pretending to be a woman in Tootsie (1982) and an autistic in Rain Man (1988). He has a reputation for being difficult to work with.

Hoffman has won two Academy Awards, five Golden Globes, three BAFTAs, three Drama Desk Awards, an Emmy Award and an Annie Award. He was ranked #41 in Empire (UK) magazine’s “The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time” list in october 1997. Dustin Hoffman received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 1999.

Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend

Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend – Lyrics

The French were bred to die for love
They delight in fighting duels
But I prefer a man who lives
And gives expensive jewels
A kiss on the hand may be quite continental
But diamonds are a girl’s best friend
A kiss may be grand but it won’t pay the rental
On your humble flat, or help you at the automat
Men grow cold as girls grow old
And we all lose our charms in the end
But square cut or pear shaped
These rocks don’t lose their shape
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend

Tiffany’s, Cartier
Talk to me, Harry, Winston, tell me all about it
There may come a time when a lass needs a lawyer
But diamonds are a girl’s best friend

There may come a time when a hard boiled employer
Thinks your awful nice
But get that ice or else no dice
He’s your guy when stocks are high
But beware when the start to descend
It’s then that those louses go back to their spouses
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend
I’ve heard of affairs that are strictly platonic
But diamonds are a girl’s best friend
And I think affairs that you must keep liaisonic
Are better bets if little pets get big baggettes
Time rolls on and youth is gone
And you can’t straighten up when you bend
But stiff back or stiff knees
You stand straight at Tiffany’s

Diamonds
Diamonds
I don’t mean rhinestones
But Diamonds
Are A Girl’s Best Friend

Marilyn Monroe began a career as a model, which led to a film contract in 1946. Her early film appearances were minor, but her performances in The Asphalt Jungle and All About Eve (both 1950) were critically acclaimed. In a few years, Monroe reached stardom and was cast as the leading lady in such films as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire, The Seven Year Itch, and Some Like It Hot.

Her dramatic performance in Bus Stopwas hailed by critics, and she won a Golden Globe Award for Some Like it Hot.

Monroe was ranked as the sixth greatest female star of all time by the American Film Institute. In the years and decades following her death, Monroe has often been cited as a pop and cultural icon.

Monroe had three marriages, first to James Dougherty, then to Joe DiMaggio, and lastly Arthur Miller. It was also widely rumored that she had had an affair with President John F. Kennedy, his brother Senator Robert Kennedy, or both. Marlon Brando, in his autobiography Songs My Mother Taught Me, also claimed that he had had a relationship with her.
